Frameless Glass Shower Enclosures Custom-Fit to Two Very Different Rock County Bathrooms

No two bathrooms are exactly alike, and that's exactly the kind of challenge City Glass Company takes on every day. These two recent projects in Rock County, WI show how custom glass shower doors can be tailored to completely different layouts — one built around an angled corner bench, the other fitted to a knee wall and bench combination — while both delivering the same clean, frameless look homeowners want.

The Challenge: Custom Fits for Non-Standard Layouts

Off-the-shelf shower doors work fine for a simple rectangular stall, but many bathrooms have features that call for something built to measure. The first bathroom featured an angled tile bench built into the corner of the shower, requiring the glass panel to be cut and notched to match the bench's exact shape rather than running straight to the floor. The second bathroom used a tiled knee wall as a half-wall base, with glass panels rising above it to full height and returning at an angle to fit the room's layout. Neither setup could be solved with a standard prefabricated door.

The Solution: Precision-Measured Frameless Glass

For the first bathroom, our team installed a frameless glass enclosure with a notched panel that follows the line of the corner bench precisely, paired with matte black hardware and a full-length pull handle that matches the black plumbing fixtures throughout the room. The result is a shower that reads as one continuous glass surface, with no bulky frame interrupting the clean lines of the large-format tile.

The second bathroom called for a different approach: glass panels set directly on top of a tiled knee wall, with a hinged door and a fixed return panel meeting at a precise angle to enclose the shower space next to a freestanding tub. Brushed nickel hardware ties the glass into the room's fixtures, and the panels were measured and cut to sit flush against the honeycomb tile without gaps. This is the kind of custom shower door work that comes up constantly in bathrooms with half-walls, angled benches, or other layout quirks that standard kits aren't built for.

Why Custom Glass Makes the Difference

A shower enclosure is one of the largest visual elements in a bathroom, and an ill-fitting door — with visible gaps, mismatched angles, or a frame that doesn't suit the room — can undercut an otherwise beautiful remodel. Precise, on-site measurement and custom fabrication is what allows glass to follow a bench, a knee wall, or an angled corner exactly, rather than forcing the room to accommodate a standard size.

Once a new glass shower door is installed, keeping it looking as good as installation day is mostly about routine care. Our post on shower door maintenance tips for Janesville, WI covers simple habits that keep glass clear and hardware working smoothly for years.
